Doyle’s Room Rings in 2008

Doyle’s Room is ringing in the New Year with two $500 freerolls at 3 and 9 EST on January 1, 2008. These are TRUE freerolls — meaning that you do not have to have made a deposit nor have played a single hand in order to qualify.

If you do decide to make a first deposit at Doyle’s Room, you will enjoy a 110% bonus up to $550. Any bonus amount is released in increments according to the number of raked hands that you play after you have made the deposit.

One more thing…. players that play in raked hands in the hours leading up to as well as on January 1 are eligible to participate in 8 additional freerolls. Play at least one raked hand in the 24 hours prior to the starting time of the freeroll, and you are in! The more raked hands that you play, the bigger your starting stack for these freerolls.

50% eCheck Bonus at PokerStars for US and Canadian Players

Now through December 17, 2007, US and Canadian players are eligible to receive a 50% bonus on their eCheck deposits — up to a maximum of $50 — at PokerStars. Use bonus code echecks2007 when prompted in the cashier.

For a complete, extensive, step-by-step walkthrough of making a deposit with an eCheck, read my article titled PokerStars eCheck Deposits. (Please be patient while the page loads, as it has 15 screen captures to guide you through the process.)

More about echecks from PokerStars:

An eCheck is an electronic check which allows you to make safe, secure and immediate electronic fund transfers (EFT) directly from your bank account to your PokerStars account.

eChecks work the same way paper checks do. When you deposit using an eCheck, the amount of your deposit is requested from your bank just like when a paper check you’ve written is deposited. Once the check clears, the funds are transferred from your bank
account to PokerStars.

Funds deposited via eCheck are immediately available in your PokerStars account even though the funds aren’t received from your bank account instantly.

As it can take up to 10 days for the funds to be received from your bank, your deposit is in an ‘uncleared’ status at PokerStars for 10 days after you make an eCheck deposit. While a deposit is uncleared, you may not cash out or request cash transfers unless you have a balance that is greater than the total of your uncleared eCheck deposits. Any portion of your balance that is more than the total of your uncleared deposits may be used normally including cashouts and transfers.

If an eCheck deposit is not honoured by your bank and is returned as unpaid, other restrictions will apply to future eCheck deposits including not receiving your funds instantly and instead only receiving your funds once your eCheck deposits clear.

If you have not made a previous eCheck deposit, the starting eCheck deposit limits are:

  • US $25 – minimum purchase
  • US $100 – maximum amount to purchase within 24 hours
  • US $300 – maximum amount to purchase within 7 days
  • US $600 – maximum amount to purchase within 30 days
  • There is a limit of one (1) eCheck deposit allowed within 48 hour period

NOTE: Once your first eCheck deposit successfully clears your bank 10 days after your deposit request, your eCheck deposit limits will be automatically raised to the following:

  • US $25 – minimum purchase
  • US $600 – maximum amount to purchase within 24 hours
  • US $1,000 – maximum amount to purchase within 7 days
  • US $2,000 – maximum amount to purchase within 30 days
  • There is a limit of three (3) eCheck deposit allowed within 24 hour period

If you would like to receive an increase in your PokerStars deposit limits, after you’ve had your starting limits raised automatically, please email us.

Duplicate Poker is a Blast!

I’ve mentioned Duplicate Poker on my blog in the past, but I’ve been playing this more and more in the past week. I am telling you, it is a blast to play. Put simply, you try to get more chips than the players at other tables in your same seat who are getting the same cards and same boards as you!

Duplicate Poker involves play of Pot Limit and No Limit Texas Hold’em under the general rules governing that game with four exceptions.

  • First, there are always two or more tables of players, with the same number of players seated at each table.
  • Second, an identically shuffled deck of cards is used at each table for each hand played so that players in the same seat position at each table receive the same hole cards and the common cards are the same at each table.
  • Third, every player begins each hand with the same number of playing chips, regardless of how he/she may have done in any previous hand.
  • Fourth, the winner of each hand is determined based on the number of chips he or she has at the end of the game as compared with those held by all players in the same seat at the other tables.

Determining winners by comparing the results achieved by the players playing identical hands eliminates the luck of the draw element normally associated with poker so that skill is what determines who wins, not whether you got good cards or bad cards. Every hand can win if it is well played.

There is an interactive tutorial at their website that I recommend highly! And, here’s their current offer to get you started:

Knockout Bounty Tournaments at FTP

Knockout Bounty tournaments are a lot of fun. Here’s how it works: A portion of your entry fee is allocated as a bounty on each player’s head. When you knock out a player, you get their bounty! For example, in a $10+$1 tournament, $8 goes into the prize pool, with $2 being the bounty on each players head. In this example, all you have to do is knockout 6 players, and you’re ahead for the tournament!

Check out the new Knockout Bounty tournaments at Full Tilt Poker.
