Casino Hold'Em Poker

: Game Rules & Strategy
Object: Hold'Em Poker is the most popular form of poker in the world today. This version of poker has three different possible payouts -- Ante, Bonus and Call.

This game is played using a 52-card deck with Jokers removed. You compete against the dealer. After cards are dealt in Hold'Em fashion, the house creates the best 5-card poker hand for you and the dealer from a selection of 7 cards. Your hand is compared with the dealer's hand.

  • If your hand has a higher value than that of the dealer, you win.
  • If the hand values are the same, it's a tie and your Ante / Call bet is returned back to you.

Payouts for Bonus bets are independent of the main game result. Ante bet payouts are based on the Ante paytable. Call bets payouts are 1:1 and the result is calculated based on your hand compared to dealer's hand.

Hand Rankings: For determining the outcome of the Call bet, hand rankings are as follows, with the highest hands first:

Hand Ranking Description Example
Royal Flush 5 suited cards in sequence, topped with the ace. For example, a Royal Flush in Spades. a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card
Straight Flush 5 suited cards in sequence. For example, an Eight-high Straight Flush in Diamonds. a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card
Four of a kind 4 cards of the same rank. For example, four Queens. a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card
Full house 3 cards of the same rank, plus 2 cards of the same rank. For example, a full house with 3 aces and 2 fives is a Full House, Aces full of Fives. a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card
Flush 5 cards of the same suit, not all of which are in sequence. For example, a King-high Diamond Flush. a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card
Straight 5 cards in sequence, not all of which are the same suit. For example, a Ten-high Straight. a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card
Three of a kind 3 cards of the same rank. For example, three Queens. a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card
Two pair 2 different occurrences of 2 cards of the same rank. For example, Two Pair -- Jacks and Nines. a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card
One Pair 2 cards of the same rank. For example, a pair of Queens. a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card
High Card Cards all of which are different ranks and are not all the same suit. For example, Ace High. a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card a playing card

If two or more hands are the same ranking, the winner is the one having the higher cards. For example, a Flush with an Ace high beats a Flush with a King high. If the poker hands remain tied, then the highest card not being held in common (the kicker) determines the winner.

The Play of the Game: You can start playing by placing an Ante bet. Once Ante bet is placed, you can place a Bonus bet if you wish. You cannot place a Bonus bet without placing the Ante bet. Once bets have been placed, the game is played in the following manner:

  • Two cards are dealt face-down to both player and the dealer. These face-down cards are also referred to as "Hole cards".
  • Player's Hole cards are exposed.
  • Dealer discards the top card from the deck of cards. This card is called a "Burn card".
  • Dealer deals the next 3 cards, face-up on the table. This is called a "Flop".
  • Once the Flop is dealt, you have an option to either Fold or Call.
    • If you Fold, you lose all your bets and the game ends here.
    • If you choose to Call, a Call bet which is 2x your Ante bet, is placed
  • Dealer burns another card and deals one more card onto the table. This is called a "Turn card".
  • Dealer burns the final card and deals one last card onto the table. This is called a "River".
  • The five cards that are dealt face-up are called "Community cards" that the player or dealer can use to form a five-card poker hand in combination with their hole cards.
  • All 3 Burn cards will stay face down on the left hand side of Community cards.
  • The dealer's hole cards are now exposed.
  • The house will determine the player's five-card poker hand. Winnings are calculated based on the following rules for each type of bet placed:
    • Ante Bet: Players hand is formed by using his/ her hole cards in combination with the community cards. At least one of the Player's hole card must be used to form a winning combination. Winnings are based on the Ante paytable.
    • Call Bet: At least one of the player's Hole card must be used to form a winning hand.
    • Bonus Bet: Poker hand for the bonus bet is calculated based on the Flop. Payouts are based on the Bonus paytable.
  • If Dealer qualifies:
    • Ante payouts are paid according to the Ante paytable in case player wins.
    • Bonus payouts are paid according to the Bonus paytable.
    • Call bet payouts are 1:1 in case the player wins. In case of a Push, bet is returned to player.
  • If Dealer does not qualify:
    • Ante payouts are paid according to the Ante paytable
    • Bonus payouts are paid according to the Bonus paytable.
    • Call bet is returned to player.
