The Hurt Locker Wins Top Two Honors at 2009 Oscars

Yesterday at the 2009 Oscars, Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman director to win an Oscar, for her film The Hurt Locker. The Hurt Locker also took home the Oscar for Best Picture. Avatar lost in all of the major categories in which it was nominated.

Depending on when — and if — you were able to get a wager down on these two categories, Bigelow was at -225 and the Hurt Locker was at +145. Both of these lines were before the SAG Awards, which are fairly reliable predictors of Oscar winners.
